MSNBC is running a special on Sunday Night at 10:00pm eastern called “Boosting For Billions”. This is definitely worth checking out, even if you are not a loss prevention professional.
It is a fact that there are many organized criminal groups out there, including gangs, etc., who are taking advantage of the courts’ view of shoplifting as a minor crime, and they are making money at our expense. There is legislation that has been introduced that will stiffen the penalties for ORT/ORC related crimes, but the laws are not on the books yet; and everyday, these groups rake in thousands of dollars.
